Growing up, I was always fascinated with games. Of course, I enjoyed playing them and having a thrill of a time, but there was always something else that caught my eye. I was always amazed with how the art would always look better with each game. This drove me to where I am at today.
Choosing Game Art and Animation as my career was not exactly the easiest thing for me to do. I honestly had no knowledge of game modeling, so my mindset was strictly with 2D. Whenever I learned about how I could stick mainly with 3D, my whole perspective instantly changed. I had always struggled with traditional art; I would spend hours just trying to perfect one simple area of the drawing. As soon as I learned about 3D modeling, I was hooked in immediately. The very first class that showed us the very basics of 3DS Max, I wanted to learn everything I could. While the class was going over tools and the very basics of the program, I went and found a more experienced person within UAT. As they explained how to do things and how to manipulate an object through modifiers, I knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life.
After a while, I realized that there is always something I will not know how to do; I was not the only one either, my whole art class realized this. After talking with them, we decided to form a small group within that class. We decided to all join a server through discord. This allowed us to help one another with problems and solutions as they arose. This group ultimately helped me learn the quickest with so many different techniques and skills.
Being at UAT really opened my eyes seeing everyone helping one another to really achieve the same goal. I wanted to give back something as well, to be apart of that experience. This led to me to become an EXL leader. Being an EXL leader, I helped and mentored new freshman for that semester. I would help them move in, walk them through orientation, overlooked their Provost challenge, and helped them with any problems that they had.
